Data Privacy Notice: Website
Using your data appropriately is very important to us. This is why m-privacy GmbH is providing us support in the area of data privacy. The data privacy officer for InnoZ is:
12101 Berlin, Germany
Protecting your data is important to modalyzer. modalyzer is a project of the Innovationszentrum für Mobilität und gesellschaftlichen Wandel (InnoZ) GmbH (Innovation Centre for Mobility and Societal Change). In this declaration, you can read about what kind of data we collect from you on our website, in our apps, or on our social media profiles, and in what ways we process this data. We only transmit your data to third parties if there is an appropriate legal basis to do so or with your permission.
2 Website Statistics
We record statistical data on your visit to our website in order to improve our online services. In accordance with Sec. 15 (3) of the Telecommunications Act (Telemediengesetz), you have the right to object to this. If you do not wish to be included in our statistical evaluations, you can activate the “Do Not Track” feature in your browser.
If you have activated this feature, we will interpret this as your desire to not be “tracked” without your consent. Accordingly, we review this feature for all visitors to our website and omit any tracking measures. In individual cases, we may ask you to agree to allow us to record data via a pop-up window.
The procedure you will use to activate the “Do Not Track” option will vary depending on the internet browser you are using. To do so, follow these links:
- Mozilla Firefox – instructions to activate “Do Not Track” in the program options [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-turn-do-not-track-feature]

We use the open source software “Piwik” to generate our website statistics. Your data is processed exclusively by us during this step. Piwik uses so-called “cookies”, text files that are stored on your computer and that allow us to analyze your use of the website.
Your IP address is anonymized immediately after processing and before saving. This means it is not possible to associate the information with you personally from your IP address. Your IP address is also used to complete a rough geo-location, also in abbreviated form. To do so, your country of origin and your internet access provider are determined and saved.
If you do not want to be included in our website statistics, please activate the “Do Not Track” feature as described above.
3 Integration of Social Networks
We also inform you of our social media offerings on our website. To do so, we use web links to link to our profile pages on Facebook (Facebook Inc., Menlo Park, California) and Twitter (Twitter Inc., San Francisco, California). Therefore, your data is transferred first to the social network when you activate the link. For reasons of data protection, we have not included “Share” or “Like” buttons.
We do not record any personal data ourselves on our social media platforms on Facebook and Twitter. The Data Privacy Provisions of each network apply to the use of your profile.
4 Integration of videos
We have integrated videos by an external provider (Vimeo LLC, White Planes, New York) on our website. When you call up one of these videos, typically your data will be transferred automatically (e.g. IP address, information on your browser and your location) to the operator of the video platform.
Just as with the integration of social networks, here we have decided on a solution that will respect data privacy concerns. The video will not yet be activated when you load the page, and no data will be transmitted. Only when you click on the video will it play as usual. By doing so, you automatically agree to transmit your data to the operator of the video platform.
5 Data Protection for Mobile Apps
We offer our research app “modalyzer” on the platform Google Play and in the Apple App Store. The data privacy regulations for each of these platforms apply to the downloading and use of the apps. Furthermore, we also record personal data through these apps ourselves. Please see our Data privacy statement on this matter.
Cookies are required to ensure the website functions smoothly. We save data relevant to the current session in these, such as short feedback texts or authentication data for registered users. The data in cookies is not saved permanently, and is not used to create user profiles.
7 Information and Objection
You can object informally to the use of your data at any time, e.g. via e-mail to email@example.com (subject: “Objection data collection modalyzer website”). You also have the right to receive written information regarding the data we have saved for you and its use free of charge, and in some cases you also have a right to correct, block, or delete this data.
